The Tibet autonomous region received more than 32 million domestic and overseas tourists in the first three quarters of 2020, with revenues hitting 33.5 billion yuan ($5 billion), according to the Tibet Tourism Development Department.

Despite the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, which continues to ravage the globe, the region's tourism industry has maintained good momentum.

In the first half of the year, Tibet's tourism market recovery placed above all other regions and provinces in China, Xinhua News Agency reported.

During the National Day holiday in October, the region received more than 1.77 million tourists, up 11.45 percent year-on-year, and tourism revenue hit more than 935 million yuan, up 14 percent year-on-year.
