CBA Roundup: Zhejiang, Liaoning snatch seventh straight win

ZHUJI, China -- The Zhejiang Golden Bulls had a 94-92 victory over the Beijing Ducks, while the Liaoning Flying Leopards trounced the Qingdao Eagles 126-103, both of which extended their winning streak to seven in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league here on Sunday.

Guard Wu Qian led Zhejiang with 37 points and eight assists, while center Zhang Dayu contributed 22 points. Guard Fang Shuo and center Li Muhao came off the bench and combined to score 35 points for Beijing.

Beijing led the game 25-17 after the first quarter, though Wu scored nine straight points to narrow the gap to four points at half-time, 52-48. Zhejiang overtook the lead 69-66 going into the last period.

Wu hit his fourth three-pointer in this game and made both free throws to make it 94-89 for good with 13.2 seconds left.

Guo Ailun finished with 26 points and 10 assists for Liaoning, which also benefited from O.J. Mayo's 24 points and Han Dejun's 22. Adams pocketed a game-high 36 points. Zhao Tailong and Zhang Chengyu added 15 and 14 respectively.

Foreign players unsurprisingly spearheaded both sides' offense after the tip-off, with Mayo and Qingdao's Darius Adams each scoring eight points as Liaoning led 31-30 at the end of the first quarter.

Liaoning built a 12-point advantage in the first half with 63-51. Han and Guo combined for 14 points going into the second half, before Liaoning extended its lead to as many as 26 points in the third quarter with 101-75.

Sunday's game also saw the Zhejiang Lions edge the Sichuan Blue Whales 97-96, the Nanjing Monkey Kings got a tight 111-110 victory over the Guangzhou Loong Lions, the Shenzhen Aviators led the team past the Shanghai Sharks 93-91 and Beijing Royal Fighter defeated Jiangsu Dragons 87-79.
