Beijing Auto Show features abundance of new launches

A total of 785 cars hit at the ongoing Beijing auto show. Below are some of the most exciting and long-awaited models.

Enovate ME7

Chinese electric car startup Enovate is showcasing its first model, the ME7 SUV, at the Beijing auto show. One of the model's biggest features is its onboard digitalized functions. Among other things, the ME7 has five screens to offer best-in-class infotainment. Other features include face-recognition, over-the-air updates and advanced driving assistance functions. Enovate offers the model in three variants and two driving-range options of 410 and 530 kilometers. It has a maximum output of 160 kW and a top torque of 330 Nm.

The Honda SUV e: concept

The Honda SUV e: concept made its world premiere at the Beijing auto show. Utilizing a design language of future technology, it shows the research and development direction of Honda's first pure electric vehicle in China. The stylish appearance and forward-looking interior were designed by a young Chinese team of Honda. The model will be equipped with the next-generation Honda Connect system and an artificial intelligence assistant to provide a comfortable and joyful driving experience. Based on the Honda SUV e: concept, the pure electric vehicles of Honda will achieve mass production soon, the carmaker said.

The all-new Golf

FAW-Volkswagen launched the eighth-generation Golf at the ongoing 2020 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition on Saturday. Based on the automaker's MQB Evo automobile platform, the all-new Golf features advanced digitalization. Adopting upgraded human-machine interactive technologies, the new model can identify and accept voice control and gesture control. The all-new Golf is also equipped with travel assist, an intelligent driving assistance system, which escort the occupants all the way. The presales prices of the eighth-generation Golf range from 150,000 yuan to 165,000 yuan ($21,988 to $24,186).

The new Tuson L

The fifth-generation Tucson L debuted in China at the 2020 Beijing auto show. The new model is scheduled to hit the market in the first half of 2021. As an important member of Hyundai's SUV family, the new Tucson L helps complete the automaker's lineup, according to Beijing Hyundai. The fifth-generation Tucson L has a length of 4,670 millimeters and a width of 1,865 mm, with a wheelbase stretching 2,755 mm. With a raft of intelligent driving systems, the new model further improves driving safety. The systems include multi-impact braking, lane keeping assist, land following assist and driver attention warning.

New Vantage Roadster

British luxury carmaker Aston Martin showcased its new Vantage Roadster at the Beijing auto show, marking its debut at the auto show. With the same twin-turbocharged 4-liter V8 as the Vantage Coupe, the roadster churns out 503 horsepower and 685 Newton meters of torque. Thanks to a unique and lightweight "Z-Fold" roof mechanism, the Vantage Roadster has the fastest roof of any automatically folding convertible on sale today. It takes 6.7 seconds to drop the roof and 6.8 seconds to raise it, all at speeds of up to 50 kilometers per hour. The carmaker said that the new Vantage roadster will enhance driving fun to a new level.

GAC M8

GAC unveiled the M8, a multi-purpose vehicle, on Saturday at the 2020 Beijing auto show. With seven derivatives, the M8 has a suggested price range of 179,8000 yuan to 264,8000 yuan. With a width of 1,884mm and a height of 1,822 mm, the new model has two options of length-5,089 mm and 5,149 mm. But the wheelbase stays the same at 3,000 mm. Equipped with a 2-liter turbocharged engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission, the M8 has a maximum output power of 185 kilowatts and a top torque of 390 Newton meters.
