The Oriental Pearl: Oversea Exhibition of Shanghai University Museums was concluded here Monday at the Nanyang Technological University.

The exhibition at the Education Wing Atrium showcases the pictures and stories of the precious collections from the museums of five Shanghai universities to Singaporeans for the first time. Focusing on ancient shipping, literature and art, calligraphy, textile and costume and traditional opera, the exhibition showcases the humanism of Chinese higher education and the charm of the profound and splendid Chinese culture.

The exhibits come from the Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), Fudan University, Donghua University, Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Shanghai Theater Academy.

The show is supported by Information Office of Shanghai Municipality, and organized by the China National Educational Alliance of University and College Museums, Shanghai Educational Alliance of University and College Museums, SJTU and the Nanyang Technological University.

SJTU Party Secretary and Chairman of University Council Jiang Sixian, Education Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Singapore Kang Kai and Dean of Graduate College of the Nanyang Technological University Jimmy Hsia were among those officiating at the opening ceremony on Nov. 28.

Ricky Li, a graduate from the MBA program SJTU held here in Singapore, said the exhibition reminds him of his close bond with SJTU, and serves as a vivid example of exercising the SJTU motto which is Gratitude and Responsibility.

The show was earlier staged at the University of Manchester in Britain.

SJTU has been actively involved for nearly 30 years in postgraduate education and seven years in joint scientific research in Singapore. SJTU has held the master's degree of business administration (MBA) in Singapore since 1992. In more than 20 years, it has trained more than 600 business elites, and made contributions to education and management of Singapore.
