Xiabu, or "the fabric of summer", is a traditional handwoven fabric made of ramie, used to help people feel cool and comfortable and also ward off the heat and humidity.

Spun Connected, an exhibition at Prince Kung's Palace Museum through Nov 9 in Beijing, pays tribute to the simple beauty of xiabu and the endangered craft behind it, with a display of clothing and textile pieces using the craft by artists from China, Japan and South Korea over the past century.

It also shows modern designs to invite the audience to discuss how this tradition can be revitalized today.
