Governments of various levels have carried out emergency measures to guard against Lekima and ward off potential calamities brought by strong gusts and heavy downpours.

The State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters on Friday required all related regions and authorities to strengthen risk assessment, relocate people living in dangerous areas and guard against possible disasters including floods.

Che Jun, Zhejiang's Party secretary — the top official in the province — said on Friday fighting against Typhoon Lekima has "entered the most critical stage". He urged all Party and government authorities to take "thorough and detailed" measures to evacuate marine and fishery populations along the coastal areas.
