Xue Xiao was a special guest at a ceremony held to unveil the global emblem of China's giant pandas on Wednesday afternoon in Beijing.

Xue, a 2018 Wenchuan earthquake survivor, said he was "excited to be there" on behalf of young volunteers for a campaign aimed at promoting giant pandas among the global youth.

A Pu, a cartoon image of a young male panda who loves playing table tennis, became giant pandas' global emblem after winning the China Giant Panda Global Image Design Competition, which was part of the campaign.

The competition, which received more than 2,023 works from 22 countries, was jointly organized by the China Intercontinental Communication Center and the China Conservation and Research Center for Giant Panda.

Xue, 28, is no stranger to speaking for his native province Sichuan.

Xue said the volunteers who helped victims after devastating earthquake inspired his career choice.

The Wenchuan quake survivor works in the Coca-Cola Museum in Sichuan as the curator, helping visitors learn the heritage, culture, innovation and efforts in sustainability of the company.

Coca-Cola has been active in the local sustainability development during its involvement in the reconstruction after the earthquake.
