Circus festival hits the streets of Brussels
This form of circus was created and based on local conditions. "It's a walk around Brussels with the all the people," said Charlotte Smith, one spectator who enjoyed the circus with her two children. "It's a nice way to see Brussels, it's a kind of community feeling."
The unique performance was a first for the circus festival in Brussels. "It's the first time that we are proposing this kind of show," said Fabien Resimont, the organizer of Hopla! circus festival.
Resimont believes elements of urban sports in circus can help the audience to explore the city. "I think people like to discover cities like this," he said.
Though the performance was rehearsed a day earlier, it wasn't entirely planned. "We like to improvise more, more impulsively, not to prepare all the action," said Ward Mortier, one of the acrobats. "We like to find out and discover in the moment."
