Heraeus booth at the CIIE showcasing its latest exhaust gas treatment system

Heraeus Group, the Germany-based family-owned technology giant, is displaying its latest ultraviolet exhaust gas-treatment system using internet of things technologies at the China International Import Expo (CIIE).

The system integrates the functions of waste-gas treatment and in-line monitoring, focusing on a particular market segment by creating customized high-quality solutions to help China "protect the blue skies", the company has said.

""As the first expo of its kind in the world, I see the event as a good sign to strengthen trade and growth," said company CEO Jan Rinnert in a press release. "Meanwhile, as China wants to upgrade its industrial value chain within its national strategy in the coming decade, there will be an even stronger need for high-quality and highly innovative products and services from a highly innovative partner, such as Heraeus."

The system, which reduces VOC and odor with UV light, can be installed in factories. Under the WiFi module, data can be tracked real time and become accessible to factory owners, authorities and local residents in nearby neighborhoods, said Tore Prang, executive vice-president of Heraeus.

"We could even build and store this data in a blockchain so that it cannot be altered," he said.

Prang said the exhibit at the expo marks the first of its kind and is designed to test market responses. According to the company, a customer from Xuzhou, Jiangsu province, signed a purchase order of intent worth $1.5 million at the company booth at CIIE.

The gas-treatment system is among Heraeus' solutions that also include power electronic systems and sensors for electric mobility, high-performance conductive pastes for the photovoltaic industry, and recycling of precious metal resources.

"China is one of the most important markets in the world for Heraeus, and will continue to grow strongly," said Ai Zhouping, president of Heraeus China. "In the future, Heraeus will continue to make the best of the German technologies and address the needs of the Chinese customers by stepping up our local research and development efforts and offering customized products and services, while actively participating in China's 'Blue Sky Campaign' to help people have a better living."
