How was the calendar compiled?

The Imperial Palace Calendar serves as a popular means for introducing palace collections and promoting traditional Chinese culture, with elaborate content, text and images on every page. It delivers the essence of China through the Palace Museum's abundant relics and profound cultural reach.

Experts and specialists curate its content, imbuing the calendar with a deeper understanding of artwork and history. The 2019 calendar has benefited from contributions by experts Feng Hejun, Liu Yun and Han Jing from the Palace Museum Department of Objects as well as Li Shi, an expert in the Calligraphy Department.

Shan Jixiang, director of the Palace Museum, said that as a special publication of the Imperial Palace, The Imperial Palace Calendar has become its own brand and won over many people. The calendar appears to a bridge a gap between audiences and the collections by popularizing and spreading the culture of the Imperial Palace.

Shan also said readers can appreciate different pictures of relics and record daily life while using the calendar, which are practical functions.
