China inaugurates new state media group

BEIJING - China Thursday officially inaugurated the China Media Group as part of its wide-ranging institutional reshuffle.
China Media Group is a new broadcasting platform made up of China Central Television, China National Radio and China Radio International.
Huang Kunming, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, attended the inauguration ceremony.
While addressing a symposium Thursday, Huang called for efforts to build the China Media Group into a new mainstream media that was strong in guiding and influencing the public.
"The restructuring is significant in following the principle of the Party exercising leadership over media," Huang said.
Huang also said the China Media Group should follow the right political direction and guide the public with right values.
