SANTIAGO -- A Pakistan man with possible traces of explosives was arrested in the U.S. Embassy in Santiago.
According to the U.S. Embassy, the detained 28-year-old man entered the building to get a visa to the U.S. He was arrested by Embassy security and put in the custody of local police.
Local media reported the man was arrested after an embassy security device detected explosives in his bag. However this has not been confirmed by the embassy.
If confirmed, it would be the second failed bombing attempt linked to a Pakistani in less than two weeks.
On May 2, New York police found at Times Square a smoking Nissan Pathfinder loaded with explosives, which could have caused major damage had it exploded.
Faisal Shahzad, a naturalized U.S. citizen from Pakistan was arrested two days later over the attempt, with the White House claiming he had links to the Pakistan Taliban.
