The musical comedy duo who call themselves Ylvis visited the set of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon to perform their hit single on Oct 1. Since then, the song and music video has gained popularity among Chinese netizens via video and microblog sites. It has been viewed more than 100,000 views on Youku.
Many are comparing the popularity of "The Fox" to the 2012 viral hit "Gagnam Style". That song earned Korean pop-star Psy appearances on American television talk shows, including The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
Ylvis has produced a number of other music videos, such as "Stonehenge", but none have enjoyed quite the same popularity as "The Fox". As the catchy song and crazy video continue to spread around China, it has many people wondering what video will take over the Internet next?
