Updated: 2009-07-31 05:29 HELSINKI: Many schools in Helsinki are retiring old classroom staples, such as chalkboards and overhead projectors, in the starting school term. New, technologically advanced smartboards are now taking the stage, Finnish media reported Thursday. New smartboards are being installed in all Helsinki schools during this year and next. Students will now for example be able to download information from the interactive smartboards directly onto their own computers. Over the summer, installation has been underway at elementary schools in the Munkkivuori, Munkkiniemi, Malminkartano and Toivola districts of Helsinki. The introduction of the new educational technology carries a price tag of 10 million euros. |
