Parents of missing US student seeking help

AUBURN, Alabama: Auburn University officials are hoping that a public request will help find a student who is missing in Thailand.

The parents of 29-year-old Michael Griffin Harrie are asking for the public's help in finding their son, who was last seen in Thailand on July 14 and was reported missing two days later.

Harrie is a student in Auburn's College of Veterinary Medicine and was participating in a study abroad program at Iwate University in Morioka, Japan.

He took a sightseeing trip to Bangkok on July 7 and was scheduled to meet his parents in Tokyo on July 16, but he never arrived.

Auburn representatives have traveled to Tokyo to assist Harrie's family.
