Singapore confirms 8th Influenza A(H1N1) case

SINGAPORE -- Singapore confirmed its 8th case of influenza A(H1N1) on Tuesday.

According to the country's Health Ministry, the patient is a 15- year-old Singaporean boy who is studying in India. He travelled from India to Orlando and Atlanta on a school trip from May 17 to 31. He returned to Singapore from Atlanta via Mumbai on Singapore Airlines SQ421 on June 1.

The ministry said he was feverish during the flight, and his fever was picked up by the thermal scanner at Changi Airport. Laboratory results confirmed his infection on Tuesday.

The ministry said the tracing of the patient's close contacts are ongoing. All close contacts identified will be quarantined and provided with antiviral prophylaxis.
