Family of five burned to death in Bangladesh

Updated: 2009-02-20 18:48 DHAKA -- Five members of a family, including three children, were burned to death early Friday as a fire broke out at a house in a village in Bangladesh's Chittagong district, 264 km southeast of capital Dhaka.
Witnesses were quoted by private news agency UNB as saying the fire broke out in the 10-room house at about 1:30 a.m. (1930 GMT Thursday). The news agency said a cattle trader, his wife and three children who were tenants of two rooms in the house were burned to death on the spot, the other people who live in the house managed to save themselves. Two firefighting units rushed to the spot and doused the blaze at about 2:40 a.m. (2040 GMT Thursday) with the help of local people. |
