Siming district highlights steady growth, AI push at annual briefing

Siming district in Xiamen, Fujian province, hosted its annual government briefing to update the public on the year's economic and social progress and to outline future plans. Over the past year, the district has seen steady economic growth, along with ongoing improvements in urban livability and residents' quality of life.
Over the past year, the district's key industries have demonstrated steady growth. Software and information services as well as AI continued to gain traction, while investment promotion and opening-up made solid progress, with an increasing number of Taiwan-invested enterprises choosing to locate here.
In software and information services, 301 leading companies generated 42 billion yuan ($6.25 billion) in revenue. The AI sector saw 153 major firms post 23.25 billion yuan in revenue, and the district launched a new digital content innovation lab as well as Fujian's first One Person Companies (OPC) open-source ecosystem.
On the investment front, it signed 383 projects worth 88 billion yuan and attracted $140 million in foreign investment.
The district has made steady progress in urban renewal, infrastructure, and environmental upgrades, while improving public services including education, healthcare, childcare, and housing.
Looking ahead, the district will focus on AI and modern services, expand smart computing capacity, and boost domestic demand through new retail and experience-driven sectors. It also aims to attract multinational corporations, develop international communities, deepen cross-Strait integration, and enhance employment support and social security.
