Farmers and herdsmen in Sangong village, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, insured their cows on March 12, when the staff of the local veterinary station and property insurance company helped the villages build insurance records.

Sangong village started publicizing cow insurance policies early this February, and most farmers are willing to cover insurance for their cows. More than 20 cows got their insurance on March 12.

Cow insurance is one of the national preferential policies for farmers, aiming to reduce the risks of raising cows and protect farmers' benefits. The farmers only need to pay 10 percent of the insurance, with the fiscal subsidies from the government covering the other 90 percent.
