Langan town, in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, held an online vote from Feb 1-9 to decide who would be crowned the town's role models in the final election.

Prior to the vote, 17 candidates were sent through from the preliminary election to enter the final round.

To follow the principles of openness and fairness, the town's government launched the online voting system. So far, around 600 people have voted online.

Langan town also provided a QR code (below) to their Wechat account to provide further information about the election. The town's official WeChat account is called "Meili Langan town", which means 'attractive town' in English.
