The students in Liangsangong Primary School, in the Ili Kazak autonomous prefecture of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous region, won two gold medals, two silver medals, and two copper medals in the Xinjiang region's chess matches on Dec 26, 2014.

Liangsangong Primary School sent 13 students to take part in the match, and they made excellent performances in several fierce competitions.

The school held a welcome meeting for the contestants to celebrate their success on Dec 31st, with the school secretary awarding the winners with silk banners, and the contestants shared their experience and some of them expressed that they would study hard to make more achievements and make the school be proud of them.

Liangsangong Primary School began providing chess lessons to some students who were interested in the game in 2006, and since 2008 its chess team has been winning first-place prizes in Ili and Xinxiang completions. So, in 2012, the school made the chess classes a regular part of the curriculum and hired professional instructors.

Liangsangong Primary School became the Ili area’s first chess school with recognition after the Chinese Chess Association gave it the designation on Nov 29, 2014, with the vice-chairman of the region’s chess association on hand to present the citation.
