SXU seeks further partnership with Peking University

A delegation from North China's Shanxi province -- led by Lou Yangsheng, Party chief of the province -- visited Peking University in Beijing on Oct 19 to expand their mutual cooperation.

Officials from Shanxi University (SXU) were involved in the visit, including SXU Party chief Wang Yanglin, SXU President Huang Guitian and vice-president Zhou Xiaoji.

At the symposium with Peking University, Wang Yixin, vice-governor of Shanxi province, and Zhang Pingwen, vice-president of Peking University, signed a strategic cooperation agreement on scientific and technological innovation.

Under the agreement, both parties will deploy a team led by Peng Lianmao, an academician from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, to establish the Peking University (Shanxi) Carbon-based Thin Film Electronics Research Institute, which will be located at Shanxi University.

An agreement was signed between Shanxi University, Peking University and Shanxi Dadi Environment Investment Holdings Co to build a solid waste resource recycling collaborative research center and a laboratory for coal-based solid waste resource recycling.

Shanxi University's vice-president Zhou Xiaoji, Datong's vice-mayor Guo Lei and Lei Xingshan, dean of School of Archaeology and Museology at Peking University, also signed an agreement at the symposium to expand research on the Yungang Grottoes and related cultural aspects.

SXU officials toured the carbon-based electronics research center, the urban solid waste recycling technology and management laboratory, and the new energy materials and device laboratory at Peking University, learning about the progress being made in the university's research, the laboratories' construction and achievements being made in key fields.
