Data retrieval workstation to power research innovation

A workstation for science and technology data retrieval, unveiled recently at the library of Shanxi University, is expected to power research innovation at the campus, university officials said.

The new facility is a sci-tech novelty retrieval (STNR) workstation. Officials said STNR plays an important role in the retrieval of information in the colleges and universities, helping experts the novelty of sci-tech projects which are required for application and approval.

Officials said the workstation, which was unveiled on Oct 10, was jointly established by Peking University Library and Shanxi University Library.

The Z01 workstation is serving as a part of the sci-tech novelty retrieval program of the Ministry of Education.

Attendees at the unveiling ceremony included Hang Kan, vice-president of Shanxi University, Chen Jianlong, curator of Peking University Library and Xiao Long, curator of Shanxi University Library.

Addressing the ceremony, Hang Kan said that establishment of the workstation would improve the service capability of the university’s library and he hoped that Peking University Library would give consistent support for the improvement.

Chen Jianlong said that the workstation witness to the deepening partnership between Peking University and Shanxi University, and it will optimize Shanxi University Library’s service structure and systems.

The sci-tech novelty retrieval work will enhance the university’s capabilities in scientific research innovation, Chen added.

Xiao Long gave a briefing on the new workstation. She said that with its help, Shanxi University Library had laid the foundation for sci-tech novelty retrieval work, adding that it would help power for the university’s technological innovations.
