Ding briefly described the goals they hope to achieve during this tour at the meeting.

Cheng then reported Shanxi University’s progress in academic studies and the accomplishments the two universities have made to boost the development of the Collaborative Innovative Center of Extreme Optics based at Zhejiang University.

Luo Jianhong, vice president of Zhejiang University, praised Shanxi University for all its enthusiastic efforts to facilitate the two schools’ partnership.

All attendees finally shared opinions about jointly promoting a low-carbon energy institute at Shanxi province’s science and technology innovation park, big data platform, the discipline building of Shanxi University’s Dadongguan campus, and training sectors.

Founded in the historic and picturesque city of Hangzhou in 1897, Zhejiang University (ZJU) is one of the earliest modern academies of higher learning established in China. It has always been ranked highly among China’s prestigious research institutions. In the Essential Science Indicator (ESI) rankings of 22 disciplines, Zhejiang University ranks among the top 1 percent in 15 disciplines, and is listed in the top 100 of the world’s academic institutions in four disciplines. ZJU’s motto is "Seeking Truth and Pursuing Innovation". It has been committed to assiduous scientific and technological innovation and has launched a number of international high-end academic platforms. Zhejiang University Library's collection contains about seven million volumes, making it one of China's largest academic libraries.

With five campuses, namely Zijin'gang, Yuquan, Xixi, Huajiachi, and Zhijiang campuses, Zhejiang University encompasses an area of 4.5 square kilometers with school buildings covering 1.94 million square meters.
