Yang Weimin, vice minister of the Office of the Central Leading Group on Finance and Economic Affairs, briefed more than 150 senior foreign diplomats from nearly 120 countries on the proposal on formulating the 13th Five-Year Plan.

Yang introduced the achievements made by China in terms of economic and social development during the 12th Five-Year Plan period and answered questions raised by diplomats on the compilation, basic logic, main targets and key tasks and methods of the proposal on formulating the 13th Five-Year Plan. The proposals highlighted the ideas of innovation, coordination, green development, opening up and sharing, according to Yang. Innovation is the primary driving force of the future and can cultivate new points of economic growth; coordination can help resolve problems caused by the shortcomings in development, promote regional and inter-regional development and coordinated development between urban and rural areas, and facilitate the coordinated development between economy and culture and between economy and national defense; green technology is the direction of reform for future industrial technology; opening up means that as China's international economic influence increases, China will deal with its relationship with other countries with a broader view and an open heart; and sharing means that social development in different regions of China will be more equal.

Diplomats have said that the briefing has given them a better understanding of the 13th Five-Year Plan and China's future development. They will report the relevant content of the meeting to their countries as an important reference to better cooperation with China in their foreign policies.

The International Department of the CPC Central Committee has held several briefings since 2009 to introduce the CPC's latest policies to the international community.
