The city of Qingdao in Shandong province is accelerating its fast pace of building a more intelligent household electrical appliance industry, based on information and networking technology, the Qingdao Daily reported.

According to the latest statistics published by the government, the value of the household electrical appliance industry hit 87.2 billion yuan ($13.1 billion) in the first-half of 2016, up 6.4 percent from the same period last year.

Several local enterprises like Haier, Hisense and AUCMA have taken the lead in the area through technology innovation, contributing to the industrial sector of the city.

Haier, one of the world’s biggest home appliance suppliers headquartered in Qingdao, built a magnetic levitation central air conditioning production base in January this year, which is capable of providing personalized customization services for global users. The online platform launched by the corporation two months later set a remarkable milestone in the country as a solution provider for intelligent manufacturing.

Hisense, another local electric appliance giant, has worked hard to build the world’s biggest internet TV service platform. The company won the Best Television Technology Award during the CES Asia 2016 in May this year for its latest laser theater television. The air conditioners produced by Hisense are also well received in the domestic market, known for their great performance in energy saving.

AUCMA, a world famous refrigeration equipment supplier, has developed its all-round cold chain system covering household refrigerators, industrial freezers, cryogenics, and air conditioning. The Qingdao enterprise integrates network technology with its cold chain system, increasing the efficiency and value of every link in the cold chain.

From manual operation to automatic work, from isolated production to interconnected networks, from mass manufacturing to mass customization, the home appliance industry in Qingdao has achieved stunning progresses, an official of Qingdao local government observed.

The fundamental reason for the success of the home appliance industry in Qingdao lies in independent innovation.

Haier has built up five R&D (research and development) centers around the world, possessing the world’s top hardware R&D capabilities. The cooperation has set an example for other manufacturing companies in China seeking to develop their own technology.

Hisense has improved the quality of the liquid crystal display to a world-class level and mastered the key technology of controlling frequency conversion.

AUCAMA has founded a series of work stations and labs to research and develop the most high-end ultralow temperature refrigeration technology, and cold chain construction technology.

The rapid growth led by all these home appliance leading enterprises has also driven the development of other relevant industries such as compressors and precision injection in Qingdao.
