Qingdao, Shandong province, unveiled a "route map" of marine tourism as a move to develop the city into an international marine tourism destination, reported the china.com.cn.

Qingdao will welcome social capital flowing to its tourist market and develop mixed ownership tourist enterprises, according to the new directions.

It will enhance marine culture tourism, including the restoration and upgrade of historical and cultural blocks, like Zhongshan Road and Badaguan, or the "Eight Passes", to develop characteristic tourist routes.

In addition, Qingdao will exploit projects related to movie and television culture by virtue of the Qingdao Oriental Movie Metropolis, build an ocean park on the basis of the Qingdao Polar Ocean World, and develop historical and rural tourism.

Qingdao will also strive to develop yachting tourism. It plans to open more ship routes and host international conventions of the cruise industry, upgrade supporting facilities around wharfs and streamline related approval processes.
