High-speed railway now linking China's E Coast cities

The Qingdao-Rongcheng high-speed railway, Shandong province's first inter-city line, opened for business, on Dec 28, the Jinan Railway Administration has announced, with a designed speed of 250 km/hr.

The 286-kilometer line has three main stops in the cities of Qingdao, Yantai and Weihai and will cut the travel time from Qingdao to Yantai from 3.7 hours to 1.5 and is expected to have a passenger capacity above 199,000 daily by 2020, and 293,000, by 2030.

The new railway line will also help the city's development along with tourism along the line.
