The Qingdao symphony orchestra, East China’s Shandong province, made its debut as part of the 17th Beijing Music Festival on Oct 18th, in bid to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the birth of Richard Strauss, a renowned German composer.

The Qingdao orchestra’s performance covered various works of Strauss, which not only gave the audience a better understanding of the musician but also showcased its strength and achievement.

In commenting on the Qingdao orchestra’s performance, Yu Long, the Beijing festival's founder and music director, said that he was deeply impressed by its perfect skills.

The annual international event, which will last until Oct 31st, also invited the China Philharmonic Orchestra and Shanghai Symphony Orchestra to offer a “Feast of Classical Music” for large numbers of Strauss fans.
