Qingdao hosts picture book exhibition

The second National Children's Picture Book Exhibition was held in Qingdao Tiantai Gallery on Aug 24. The exhibition displays more than 100 pictures books from children. It also exhibited works of masters, attracting more than 300 children, according to Qingdaonews.com.

The picture books, using plasticine, collages and colored pens, depict a world that resonates with the little visitors. Kids were eager to read into every picture. They also drew their own pictures at the exhibition.

Liang Kegang, the curator of the gallery, said picture books can be done by every child drawing from real life experiences. Through the creative activity, kids can become better painters and writers. Above all, they can find another way to express themselves.

The exhibition enables children to appreciate picture books from peers and professionals. Parents are beginning to recognize picture books as a way to promote art education for kids.
