The ISAF Extreme Sailing Series is set to come to Qingdao again next year, the event's organizer said on Sunday.

Qingdao, the venue for Olympic sailing events in 2008, staged the second leg of the ISAF Extreme Sailing Series from April 13 to April 17.

"Qingdao has proved itself to still be a world class sailing venue and we have had fantastic sailing conditions here," said Mark Turner, executive chairman of OC Thirdpole Group, owner of the Extreme Sailing Series.

Since 2008 Qingdao has also staged top sailing events including the Volvo Ocean Race, Clipper Round the World Race and America's Cup.

The Extreme Sailing Series circuit, featuring 11 yatchs from 10 countries, now heads to Istanbul, Turkey, and seven events remain on the 2011 calendar.

"Before we know it we will be in the 2012 season, and I hope very much that Qingdao will be part of our global tour next year," said Turner.

The ISAF Extreme Sailing Series, launched in 2007, is one of the top four events of the ISAF.
