Ningbo Lishe International Airport has started the Phase III expansion, involving the construction of a terminal 2 building.

The new terminal will have a space 2.5 times the current one.

According to the blue print, the entire building under construction is shell shaped with four floors － three on the ground plus one basement.

The B1 floor or underground level will connect Ningbo Lishe Comprehensive Transport Hub which provides access to Metro, parking lots and airport buses.

The third floor above the ground is for departure while the other two are for arrivals.

The Phase III also includes an airport avenue linking expressways, the transport hub and new parking aprons as well as boarding bridges. The total investment is near 8.5 billion yuan (US$1.33 billion).

Construction is expected to be completed by 2018. New facilities will put into use in 2019. After that the airport will be able to serve 12 million passengers a year by 2020 and deal with 500,000 tons of cargos annually by 2025.
