Shows in the Yinzhou Cultural Heritage Exhibition Hall in Yinzhou district of Ningbo have been attracting flocks of citizens after they opened on March 13, according to nbrb.com.cn.

The exhibition hall consists of six themed halls, with the integrated No 1 hall displaying the efforts of heritage protection and the other five presenting 22 intangible cultural items.

Visitors can appreciate various traditional hand-made folk items and live artisan craft-making like embroidering tiger-shaped shoes. In addition, craft training courses are available at the exhibition hall from Tuesday to Sunday.

To date, 23 of Ningbo's intangible cultural heritages were listed as cultural items in need of urgent protection at the national level, five of which are in Yinzhou district, including the Butterfly Lovers Legend (the tale of Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai), rural storytelling, gold and silver embroidery, bone-inlaid woodcarving, and cinnabar and gold lacquer woodcarving.

"Some items on the list are in urgent need of protection and inheritance due to the aging of inheritors," said Chen Sujun, deputy curator of the Yinzhou Cultural Hall. "This exhibition hall in Yinzhou district aims to recall the memory of traditional craftsmanship and call upon the younger generation to learn about and inherit the intangible culture."
