Huangyi Mountain Forest Park located in the eastern mountains of Liaoning province, offers visitors four scenic areas, as well as canyons, craters, Clear Spring Temple, Jiyuan Pagoda and pretty resort villages. Covering a total area of 40 square kilometers, the mountain forest park's four scenic areas are called Volcanic Cone, Pear Village, Xuanwu Lake and City Gate Cave.

Geological research shows that Kuandian volcanoes were active in this region from eight million years ago to 300,000 years ago, and that 89 volcanoes were formed. Today, 19 remain, and the volcanic cones and craters on Huangyi Mountain are the most majestic of the Kuandian volcanoes. The main peak has an elevation of 504 meters. The top of cone is 204 meters above ground. It is highly representative of volcanoes in Northeast Asian and is the only one in China.

Basalt Lake Scenic Area is the heart of Huangyi Mountain Scenic Area. Travelling across the lake on boat, you will enjoy the clear green water as well as the magnificent and magical stones. Basalt Lake is named for basalt column forest formed on the shore by a volcanic eruption eight million years ago. Basalt column forest is a volcanic marvel. It is 100 meters high, with a straight shape. The six-sided columns are only 50 centimeters thick, and they are neatly arranged along the lake as if sliced by an ax.

Rafting is available at Huangyi Mountain Grand Canyon. The volcano in the canyon area is diverse and intact. A basalt columns forest is nearby; and volcanic pumice float on the water. The small canyon is a perfect place for scientific expedition and education, and also a natural oxygen bar and summer resort with lush vegetation.
