Star Mall Group, an international real estate development and investment company, has announced that global retailers such as Auchan, Bestsellerm and Inditex Group have joined it to create the group's first property in China.

Huayi Brothers Cinema Investment Corp will also participate with development of a cinema complex.

The group said the $200 million Star Mall Shenyang Plaza in the capital of Liaoning province will be operational next May and likely become a landmark in the city.

Star Mall Group is a joint venture between Turkey's FIBA Group - a conglomerate with operations in financial services, real estate, retailing, leasing, construction and port management in 15 countries - and Turkmall, an international real estate development and investment company that owns, develops, and leases retail and entertainment space.

To date, Turkmall has completed more than 2 million sq m of mall space, with another 10 million sq m under construction or in the process of development.

Shenyang plaza

Developers say the 325,000 sq m mall and plaza will offer an enormous interior to ensure comfortable shopping enhanced by a glass roof engineered to provide a pleasant and eco-friendly environment.

Its carefully designed layout, pedestrian traffic planning and three-floor horizontal design give each retail brand equal visibility and accessibility to customers.

As a center for local consumers, the development also brings a 26-story top-grade office tower to the city, which will be equipped with advanced amenities and provide quality services to its customers.

The plaza neighbors the largest IKEA store in Asia that opened last May. Star Mall Plaza will connect to it over a short bridge.

The mall will integrate international and local retail outlets and also offer a gym, spa, sports activities, children's area, entertainment, restaurants and coffee shops.

Its gross leasable space will be 129,000 sq m.

Fashion brands

Inditex Group, one of the world's largest fashion retailers, will bring its four brands - Zara, Bershka, Stradivarius, and Pull and Bear - to the mall.

Another renowned fashion retailer, Bestseller, will join the fashion parade with its Only, Selected, Jack&Jones, and Vero Moda brands.

French giant Auchan Group will have a 24,047 sq m hypermarket on the first and second floors.

Huayi Brothers will take the third floor for a large cinema complex with 1,750 seats and 12 screens.

Star Mall is also finalizing negotiations with Gome - China's leading appliance retailer - for a 3,650 sq m store.

To date, 45 percent of the plaza's floor space has been reserved.

Star Mall Group CEO Blent Ulusoy noted that the mall is a pioneer in Shenyang bringing a world-class lifestyle to customers.

With its plethora of entertainment facilities and assorted amenities, the developer says the plaza will take the living standard and lifestyle of local residents to a new level and also enhance tourism by providing a new attraction for visitors.
