The Wu Culture Square in Hongshan town of Wuxi, Jiangsu province was brought alive with cheers and laughter as a cultural spring outing for local children, foreigners and shutterbugs got underway on April 8.
The hundreds of children, selected by local news media as "junior reporters", could not wait to immerse themselves in Wu culture as they clustered around the experts, inviting them to share more.
From the story of Taibo, founder of Wu culture praised for his nobility and humility by giving away his crown to his younger brother, to the romantic love story of Liang Hong and Meng Guang, a moral man and a virtuous woman, the children showed great interest in all the cultural jewels being shared.
"Having been brought up in Hongshan town, I used to connect it with the juicy grapes of summer, but now, my impression about Hongshan town has been enriched with so many historical and cultural stories," one young person said.
