A volunteers' service station has been launched by a branch of Bank of Jiangsu at the Nantong Economic and Technological Development Area (NETDA) in Jiangsu province on Sept 14.

The station originated from a volunteering platform that was set up earlier at the development area. The platform aims to serve workers at the area by providing a variety of services, covering psychological counseling, legal assistance and matchmaking for single workers.

The platform now has 11 volunteer teams and three sub-stations. They have helped over 3,000 people this year. It also established a 24-hour hotline in January and has received more than 700 calls so far. Due to its outstanding volunteering services, it was recently awarded the second prize in a volunteers' contest organized by the Publicity Department of Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee.

At the opening ceremony, the station offered 10,000 yuan ($1,571) to 10 children of migrant workers who were facing financial difficulties.
