Ruzhou city, in central China's Henan province, sent five senior high school students to a week-long national science camp at Northwestern Polytechnical University, from July 21 to 28.

The camp, hosted by the China Association for Science and Technology and the Ministry of Education, focuses on teenagers' interest in science, training their scientific thoughts and improving skills, by taking advantage of science and technology educational resources in key universities around the country.

Due to limited places, the camp only enrolls outstanding students. The city selected students who have won at least one award in the China Adolescents Science and Technology Innovation Contest.

The Northwestern Polytechnical University, in Xi'an, Northwestern China's Shaanxi province, specializes in aeronautics, astronautics and marine engineering education and scientific research. The camp, making the most of university resources, invited renowned academicians in the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and experts to give public talks and organized students' visits to the space materials lab, unmanned aerial vehicle lab and an innovation base. They also had a first-hand experience of aircraft manufacturing.
