Lanzhou approved as an e-commerce demonstration city

Lanzhou, capital of Gansu province, has been approved as one of the 30 national e-commerce demonstration cities, according to the Gansu Provincial Department of Commerce, Lanzhou Evening News reported on March 28.

The Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Finance and National Development and Reform Commission together made the announcement. The 30 cities are Dongguan, Yiwu, Quanzhou, Putian, Xuzhou, Changsha, Zhuzhou, Wenzhou, Guiyang, Yichang, Ganzhou, Changzhou, Jinan, Taizhou, Weifang, Hohhot, Xi’an, Jieyang, Yantai, Wuhu, Wuxi, Shijiazhuang, Nanchang, Shenyang, Luoyang, Lanzhou, Hefei, Guilin, Xiangyang and Taiyuan.

The announcement requires these cities to make full use of e-commerce to optimize the allocation of resources, improve their industrial structure and enhance employment, so as to further reduce energy consumption and develop a green economy.

According to the announcement, the provincial governments should support those demonstration cities in their policies and funding, making them lead the economic and social development of various regions.
