Yuantong Bridge is designed as a landmark of downtown Lanzhou that will connect Yuansen – New Northern World Complex with Xiguan and Nanguan CBD area of Lanzhou city. The first phase of the bridge lighting project is now completed, and the whole project will be completed in May 2014.

The bridge is mainly equipped with static lighting, combined with simple color changes. The lights are focused on the 150-meter arch span and the dual suspenders of the bridge. The laser lamp gives out a graceful swaying light. Several rainbow light lines are installed on the curved bridge arches. With the changing of the color, the lights give a feeling of flying in rainbows.

The bridge was built by Yuansen Real Estate Company with an investment of 180 million yuan ($29 million). In the future, Yuansen- New Northern World Complex, which includes a living community, business buildings and plaza, will cover an area of 2,890,000 square meters. It will connect the old downtown city by Yuantong Bridge over Yellow River. The Yuantong Bridge along with Yuansen- New Northern World Complex are two projects as part of the Lanzhou urban development strategy.
