It has been a month since Daming Palace opened. The great mass of tourists has caused a series of damages to the historical relic.

Some scratches and abrasions appear on the sculptures; one of the sculptures has been repaired four times; a number of civil officials have lost their “Huban,” a piece of board on which officials record their orders from the emperor.

According to a worker at the palace, the boards were damaged by a number of kids who climbed onto the sculpture at night. However, there were too many of them to be handled.

Concerning these damages, administrators are considering setting up a platform for tourists to communicate and to provide information. There are only 150 guards in the palace, who shift their working hours to guarantee 24-hour security. These guards are not enough to cover all the areas. Therefore, through the tourist platform, tourists can report on inappropriate or illegal deeds to the administrators. This will enhance the protection of the historical relic.
