The Hongchuan Communist Party Member Service Team of State Grid Jiaxing Power Supply Company carried out special power checks at Tongxiang Service Area on Sept 29. The work helped ensure the stable operation of Zhejiang's first multi-level open service area and reliable electricity for holiday travel.

Located on the second phase of the Suzhou-Taizhou Expressway, Tongxiang Service Area has one underground level, three above-ground floors, and an independent toll station. It allows two-way access between expressway and urban-road traffic.

In addition to parking, dining, and rest areas, it offers Hangzhou white chrysanthemum displays, sericulture demonstrations, and wool sweater shops. The goal is to turn an ordinary expressway stopover into a vibrant cultural tourism destination.

During the National Day holiday, heavier highway traffic and more new energy vehicles increased pressure on the service area's power supply, as shops, cultural activities, and electric vehicle charging all demanded more electricity.

State Grid Jiaxing prepared a tailored protection plan, equipped the area with dual power supplies and charging piles and checked distribution rooms, charging facilities, and power lines.

Automated equipment, including State Grid's first wide-frequency voltage and current device and 5G quantum switches, improved reliability. Dedicated electricity service managers also provided holiday support.

Zhu Feifei, an employee of State Grid Jiaxing, said that team-based services were arranged in advance through dedicated electricity managers. She added that dual power sources and wide-frequency equipment strengthened supply quality so the area could handle peak demand and serve travelers and businesses more reliably.

Tongxiang Service Area has also set up an intelligent energy monitoring platform to track consumption in real time and clarify electricity use across businesses.

Based on monitoring data, State Grid Jiaxing plans to implement tailored energy-saving and low-carbon solutions and will follow up on photovoltaic and energy-storage projects. These efforts aim to optimize energy use, develop a low-carbon smart demonstration site, and offer greener travel.
