State Grid Jiaxing integrates power and carbon services to support green manufacturing
State Grid Jiaxing Power Supply Company is integrating electricity services with energy management and carbon-reduction support to help local manufacturers in Jiaxing, Eash China's Zhejiang province, cut emissions and improve energy efficiency.
On Sept 14, the company used time-of-use electricity carbon emission factors to complete Zhejiang's first carbon footprint assessment and international verification and certification for a wool sweater product.
This filled a gap in refined product-level carbon footprint accounting for the wool sweater industry and introduced a new model for integrating electricity and carbon services.
Tongxiang, a major wool sweater hub, is home to many small and medium textile exporters. They face stricter international carbon tariffs and green trade barriers than other exporters.
State Grid Jiaxing's Red Boat Think Tank assisted local textile exporters with carbon footprint assessments, including data collection and the use of time-of-use electricity emission factors in carbon accounting.
The assessment found that one wool sweater's electricity-related carbon footprint was about 42.4 percent lower than under conventional methods. Using the new accounting method is expected to save the company about 800,000 yuan ($119,472.24) a year in potential carbon tariff costs. The more detailed carbon footprint assessment also helps the company understand emissions, identify high-emission stages, and optimize production scheduling.
State Grid Jiaxing also expanded power services to improve electricity quality and support industrial growth. Jiaxipela Compressor, a major compressor producer, was increasing its capacity but its existing 6,000-kilovolt-ampere supply was insufficient.
A customer service expert visited promptly and provided assistance while optimizing the supply plan. On April 20, a capacity expansion for its fourth plant, adding 9,000 kVA, began operation ahead of schedule.
Nearby, Fengqiao Precision Machinery Industrial Park and Nanhu High-tech Industrial Park have developed supporting industries, forming a mature compressor cluster in Jiaxing.
State Grid Jiaxing set up joint service points with the parks, offering services ranging from electricity connection to planning, operation, and maintenance. It also helped firms manage costs by optimizing shifts and guiding efficient energy use. In 2025, the compressor industry's average electricity cost was 3.66 percent lower per kilowatt-hour than in 2024.
State Grid Jiaxing will continue advancing integrated power supply, energy efficiency, and carbon efficiency services. It will strengthen technology, expand applications, and improve service platforms. It will also help businesses manage carbon assets and access green electricity trading, offering targeted green services as Jiaxing's manufacturers expand their global footprint.
