Green, smart 110-kV Huanan Substation goes into operation in Zhenjiang
The 110-kV Huanan Substation was officially put into operation on Aug 14 in Zhenjiang, Jiangsu province.
Adhering to green construction standards, State Grid Zhenjiang Power Supply Company worked to minimize ecological disruption. It adopted a combined overhead and underground cable laying approach to tackle challenges in the routing of power lines through mountainous terrain.
Steel towers in mountain zones were built with standard deep foundations, followed immediately by efforts to restore vegetation and preserve Baohua Mountain's original landscape. Spider cranes, aerial work platforms and manual material handling replaced heavy machinery, cutting construction‑related dust, noise and carbon emissions.
The substation is equipped with a supervisory control system that features remote adjustment, control, measurement, and signaling capabilities, allowing it to operate without human intervention.
Through a remote monitoring platform, staff gain real‑time information on equipment status and load parameters for intelligent fault early warning and rapid response. The substation has shifted away from the traditional manual on‑site inspection model, improving grid operational efficiency and power supply stability, while supporting refined dispatching.
Now in stable operation, the substation raises Jurong Baohua New Town's transformer capacity from 103 MVA to 203 MVA. It also strengthens reliability for local main and distribution grids, meeting the power needs of industrial production, cultural tourism and everyday life.
With its green, smart, and efficient power services, the substation fuels the integrated growth of the Nanjing‑Zhenjiang‑Yangzhou metropolitan area.
