Shaoxing pioneers new precision-governance power service model for full-process management
State Grid Shaoxing Power Supply Co (State Grid Shaoxing) signed a power quality governance and energy-saving and cost-reduction project with Shaoxing Lianxin Metal Products Co on July 22. This stands as the first-ever project of its kind to be implemented in Shaoxing, Zhejiang province.
During preliminary on-site surveys, technicians from State Grid Shaoxing identified multiple abnormal power usage issues at Shaoxing Lianxin Metal Products Co. These included low power factor caused by the interplay between electrical equipment and photovoltaic (PV) grid integration, as well as reactive power reverse feeding at night. The anomalies not only drove up the company's electricity costs, but also led to equipment overheating, control system misoperations, and even unplanned production line shutdowns — posing both safety and operational risks.
To address these pain points, State Grid Shaoxing deployed an integrated solution combining a 10-kilovolt static var generator (SVG) with passive filters. This approach effectively resolves power factor fluctuations, harmonic overruns, voltage flicker, and reactive power reverse feeding, thereby achieving significant energy savings and cost reduction. Upon project completion, it is expected to not only protect the plant's core electrical equipment and reduce line losses, but also enhance PV absorption capacity — while saving the company approximately 440,000 yuan ($60,300) in annual electricity costs.
In recent years, State Grid Shaoxing has deepened its integrated energy service offerings, providing full-process support including energy-saving diagnostics, solution design and construction, and operation and maintenance trusteeship.
The company has developed demonstration projects across multiple domains — industrial energy efficiency, distributed PV, and green power trading — using an energy-saving benefit-sharing model to enable zero-upfront-cost energy retrofits for enterprises.
To date, these efforts have saved over 4.85 million kilowatt-hours of electricity a year, reducing annual corporate energy expenditures by 2.43 million yuan, and cutting annual CO₂ emissions by nearly 16.03 million metric tons.
