Zhejiang's first anti‑blackout power supply device operational
State Grid Zhejiang Electric Power has officially commissioned the province's first and largest 110 kV main‑distribution coordinated anti‑blackout power supply guarantee device at Xiliao Substation in Jinyun county, Lishui.
This mobile, integrated unit can be flexibly relocated to meet varying demand, and it requires no line disconnection during installation, enabling fully live‑work operation.
The device tackles a critical vulnerability: many 110 kV substations rely on a single circuit and a single main transformer, which creates a high risk of total shutdown during maintenance.
By enabling rapid power switching across voltage levels — from 110 kV down to 10 kV — the system effectively prevents complete blackouts under those conditions. Its large‑scale design and enhanced capacity make it the most powerful emergency support tool of this type currently deployed across the province.
During the summer peak, when soaring temperatures and sudden thunderstorms or gales drive up electricity demand, the device can be deployed quickly and flexibly.
It sharply cuts emergency power access time and relieves heavy loads on local grids, ensuring uninterrupted service for both residential areas and industrial facilities.
According to State Grid Zhejiang, it will continue to strengthen emergency standby arrangements and dynamic dispatching based on this pioneering system, with the goal of maintaining stable and orderly power supply throughout the rest of the hot season.
Future expansions could cover more substations with similar configuration risks, further enhancing grid resilience across Zhejiang.
