State Grid Dingxi: Empowering Potato Capital’s cultural tourism consumption

Updated:2026-07-24

The Seventh Qingdao Beer Carnival in Dingxi 2026 kicked off at the Dingxi Sports and Fitness Center Square on July 20, drawing enthusiastic crowds. This seven-day summer celebration brought together live performances, local delicacies, and recreational activities, lighting up the nightlife of China’s "Potato Capital", boosting Dingxi’s nighttime economy and promoting the integrated development of culture, tourism, and sports.

State Grid Dingxi Power Supply Co (State Grid Dingxi) provided comprehensive power support, delivering stable and reliable power to fuel high-quality growth in the city’s cultural tourism industry.

Since the first beer festival was held in Dingxi in 2020, the Beer Carnival has evolved into a distinctive local cultural tourism brand. At the event site, stage lighting, audio-visual screens, refrigeration units for food stalls, and amusement rides operated simultaneously under intense load – concentrated electricity demand from packed stalls, large-power appliances, and scattered temporary power points posed significant challenges to grid stability and safety.

To ensure flawless operation, the company coordinated with organizers, developing customized power protection plans tailored to each day’s schedule and refining measures across equipment inspection, on-site monitoring, and emergency response throughout the entire process.

Before the carnival's opening ceremony, the company mobilized the State Grid Gansu's service team to conduct thorough inspections. They checked main and secondary power lines, distribution transformers, indoor distribution boxes, temporary cables, and residual current devices around the sports center.

Using infrared thermography, they identified potential overheating risks at connection points and switches and helped merchants rectify unsafe practices, including privately wiring and overloaded extension cords, improving safety right at the source. For the scattered power needs of mobile snack vendors, staff members promoted smart, QR-code-based shared power devices, streamlining temporary power procedures and enabling safe, convenient electricity access.

During the carnival, the company designated dedicated power protection zones, and ensured continuous on-site monitoring by personnel to track real-time load fluctuations. Emergency generator trucks stood ready around the clock, along with repair materials and specialized teams, supporting a 24-hour emergency response system to swiftly address any unexpected failures. Staff members move among food stalls, main stages, and amusement areas, educating visitors and vendors on summer electrical safety while offering convenient services including consultation and equipment troubleshooting, safeguarding public leisure experiences through attentive service.

The company has aligned with the city’s strategy for integrated cultural and tourism development, focusing on powering nighttime economies, festivals, and rural scenic areas. It has provided dedicated power support for attractions such as Weiheyuan Scenic Area, Taohe Ruyi Bay, night markets in various districts and counties, and various folk festivals. By upgrading commercial district power grids, promoting accessible and shared power solutions, and establishing green channels to connect cultural tourism attractions, it continues to optimize power services for tourism-related sectors, ensuring a reliable electricity supply for a wide range of activities, including night tours, dining, and leisure.
