State Grid Suqian's hazard reporting campaign proves effective

chinadaily.com.cn |  Updated:2026-07-06

State Grid Suqian Power Supply Company received a hazard report on June 30 via its "Snap and Report" WeChat group, including photos showing a tilted utility pole and sagging power lines crossing a road in Shuyang county.

Peng Yaohui, a local operations inspector, verified the issue on site and devised a repair plan, eliminating the hazard by the following morning.

This case was one of many public reports generated since the campaign — jointly launched by State Grid Suqian and China Mobile during the Work Safety Month — encouraged citizens to document and share infrastructure risks.

Under the initiative, recipients of China Mobile's promotional messages could join a WeChat group or follow the utility's official account to submit photos, location details, and brief descriptions of observed hazards.

To date, State Grid Shuyang County Power Supply Company has received 24 reports, covering risks such as transmission line damage, distribution equipment faults, and communication line issues. Urgent threats were addressed immediately, while general hazards were logged in a tracking system and resolved sequentially.

The company confirmed that every reported case received acknowledgment, management, and follow-up.

Dedicated staff monitored both the group chat and the official account backend. Upon receipt, they assessed the risk level — dispatching emergency work orders within 15 minutes for critical cases and completing verification and inclusion in the rectification plan within 48 hours for non-urgent ones.

The campaign demonstrated the value of public participation in maintaining grid safety. By streamlining reporting channels and ensuring rapid response, State Grid Suqian not only improved hazard detection efficiency but also fostered community awareness of infrastructure protection.

All 24 reports have now been closed, with corrective actions fully implemented. The company plans to continue similar initiatives, leveraging digital tools to enhance real-time monitoring and public engagement in power system safety.
