State Grid Jiaxing completes summer peak power projects
With the commissioning of the 110-kilovolt Jing'an substation on June 24, all 17 key backbone grid projects planned by State Grid Jiaxing Power Supply Co (State Grid Jiaxing) for the 2026 summer peak electricity demand season have now been put into operation.
The projects have added a total of 4.84 million kilovolt-amperes of transformer capacity in the first half of the year, setting a new company record for half-year capacity expansion.
The additional capacity has enhanced the power supply capability of the city's grid, providing strong support for the safe and stable operation of the Jiaxing power grid and ensuring the reliable electricity supply during the summer peak.
Since the beginning of the year, the company has coordinated project implementation and outage schedules to minimize the impact of construction and maintenance work.
It issued 24 work coordination notices for major projects and complex maintenance tasks, completing 655 planned transmission grid outages and commissioning 59 projects during the first six months.
To address the challenges posed by large-scale outages required for major construction projects, the company optimized grid operation, strengthened risk management and coordinated construction schedules to ensure smooth project delivery.
During the commissioning of key projects, it adopted a parallel work model that streamlined operating procedures and testing sequences, improving overall efficiency. On-site command teams also provided real-time coordination and dynamic adjustments to ensure seamless operations while maintaining high safety standards.
The company will monitor electricity demand and conduct rolling power balance analyses while preparing nearly 400 grid optimization measures. It will further strengthen coordination between the transmission and distribution networks and strictly implement operational control measures for transformers, transmission corridors and power lines to prevent overloads.
The company said these efforts will help ensure a secure and reliable electricity supply during the summer peak demand period. They are also designed to safeguard residents' power needs and support the high-quality economic and social development of Jiaxing.
