The Lujiashi Energy Storage Station was successfully connected to the grid on June 4, making it the first grid-side energy storage facility on Zhoushan's distribution network. The station ensures safety amid the island grid's preparations for the period of peak summer electricity use.
As a 10-kV grid-side storage station, Lujiashi has a rated power of 5 MW and a total energy capacity of 10 MWh. It charges during off-peak hours and discharges during peak demand, acting like a massive power bank embedded in the local grid.
The station will ease regional peak-shaving pressure, reduce summer power strain on Lujiashi Island, boost supply capacity, improve equipment utilization, and enhance grid flexibility — meeting users' growing demand for reliable electricity.
To ensure safe and efficient grid integration, State Grid Zhoushan Power Supply Company arranged for technical specialists to carry out pre-commissioning inspections and offer ongoing support.
Personnel carefully verified key components, including secondary electrical equipment, relay protection settings, and automated information access, ensuring a smooth connection.
After integration, the station began exchanging information with both the dispatch automation system and the distribution automation system. This improves electrical quantity management for energy storage within Zhoushan's active distribution network and strengthens the perception and control of new energy storage resources.
The project marks a major step forward for the distribution network, transforming it from a traditional generation-follows-load model toward an intelligent generation-grid-load-storage coordinated interaction dispatch model.
Looking ahead, State Grid Zhoushan will expand from this single station to the broader network, accelerating the mining and integration of energy storage data.
The company aims to enhance distribution network regulation capacity and flexibility, ensuring Lujiashi performs at its best during the summer peak. This will support the high-quality development of active island distribution networks and ensure sustainable power for regional economic and social growth.
